From September 12 to 14, the unique musical project Threads of Vitality will be presented at the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in Osaka, Japan. The series of concerts will use MVTP technology developed by the CESNET association, which will connect musicians on two continents in a single live performance.
Eighteen concerts will be held over three days, six each day from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central European Time. The Czech National Pavilion in Osaka will be virtually connected to the JAMU Faculty of Music in Brno, allowing the audience to experience a synchronized concert featuring musical personalities from the Czech Republic and Japan. The program draws on Czech musical tradition while showcasing the possibilities of modern digital transmission.

Program and performers
The program is based on the works of Leoš Janáček, Bedřich Smetana, and Antonín Dvořák and will also feature the world premiere of a new composition by Martin Smolka entitled Nikde nikdo, kopce až po obzor, oblaka (Nowhere, No One, Hills to the Horizon, Clouds). The concept was prepared by Barbara Maria Willi, Dean of the JAMU Faculty of Music.

The performers will include:
•    Pianist Jan Jiraský, professor at JAMU and winner of international competitions
•    Pianist and conductor Kento Satsuma, student at JAMU and winner of the Janáček Competition
•    First violinist Hiroaki Goto, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra
•    Percussionist Martin Opršál, JAMU professor and head of the percussion department

Czech MVTP technology
This event is made possible by special Modular Video Transmission Platform (MVTP) technology developed by the CESNET association. It enables image and sound transmission with extremely low latency, allowing performers thousands of kilometers apart to play together as if they were on the same stage. Images can be transmitted in up to 8K resolution.

Cooperation between institutions
The Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, the CESNET association, and DISK Systems are collaborating on the Threads of Vitality project. By combining music, cutting-edge technology, and international dialogue, they will present Czech culture and technological innovations at one of the world's most important events.
