Czech MVTP technology connects the music world

Autumn 2025 will see the CESNET association host a series of exceptional concerts, connecting musicians and audiences across countries and continents. Thanks to CESNET's MVTP (Modular Video Transmission Platform) technology, we can connect performers in different parts of the world so that they can perform together as if they were on the same stage. Our participation in the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in Osaka, Japan, is the most significant event of this year.
MVTP enables the transmission of high-quality images and sounds with minimal delay of a few thousandths of a second, and with an image resolution of up to 8K. This allows for authentic ensemble playing in real time, even at distances of over 1,000 km. MVTP is already in use by art academies and cultural institutions in 15 countries worldwide. In 2022, the technology won the highest domestic scientific award, Česká hlava, in the Industry category. Two years earlier, CESNET received the prestigious Nostra Award/Creative Europe Award (2020) from Europa Nostra in partnership with the European Commission for supporting remote collaboration.

Although the musicians are separated by approximately 500 kilometers, they will play together.
September 12–14, Threads of Vitality Project at the Czech National Pavilion at EXPO 2025
Venue: EXPO in Osaka, Japan, and JAMU in Brno
The Threads of Vitality project will present a joint performance by Czech and Japanese artists, who will perform live simultaneously in Osaka and Brno. The concert will connect the Czech National Pavilion at EXPO 2025 with the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, and visitors will be able to see it six times a day.
The performers come from the Czech Republic and Japan and are all connected by their work at JAMU in Brno. The musical dramaturgy will introduce the EXPO audience to the Czech musical tradition, enriched by the use of the latest technologies. The project is being created in cooperation with the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, the CESNET association, and DISK Systems.
