Backup mail server

The service ensures the reception of electronic mail messages where the primary server has failed. In case of a short outage of the primary server (up to five days), the backup mail server saves the mail and delivers the messages once the primary server is re-launched.

The service is suitable in particular for small participants who do not want to administer and operate another mail server besides the mail server, yet perceive the benefits of using a backup mail server, i.e. expect frequent failures of the primary mail server.

  • Robust and modular architecture ensuring high efficiency and 24/7/365 availability;
  • The service runs on high-capacity servers which manage to receive a great volume of messages even during peak hours;
  • Systematic monitoring of the service including the mail message queue;
  • Protection against DDoS attacks.

Key benefits

  • No need for demanding administration, no costs of own solution;
  • Ensures the delivery of electronic mail in case the primary mail server has failed;
  • The service can be combined with the Antispam Gateway service.

Target audience

The service is available to all connected entities which operate their own mail server and seek higher protection of incoming mail.

Launch

The interested entity should send a request to the User care department. Subsequently, the service is launched by a CESNET staff member who assists the interested entity with configuration and testing the service.
