11. May 2022 Prague, May 11, 2022.The CESNET association has opened remote access to databases and e-journals in the ČNB’s (Czech National Bank) professional library. Registered users can use it via federated authentication eduID.cz. They can access the library’s e-resources from virtually anywhere, where they can select publications in the fields of economics, law or social sciences.
The aim of the eduID.cz identity federation, operated by CESNET, is to provide its members with a framework for the mutual use of user identities when managing access to network services, while respecting the protection of personal data. The main benefits for users include the use of a single username and password to access multiple applications. The federation allows organizations that meet the CESNET infrastructure access policy to join the federation.
CESNET was founded in 1996 by universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences. It is engaged in research and development of information and communication technologies, building and developing a national CESNET e-infrastructure for research and education. Thanks to its research activities and achievements, it represents the Czech Republic in important international projects, especially in building the pan-European network GÉANT or grid projects (EGI.eu), and participates actively in their implementation. The association is also working on the use of high-speed networks for sharing multimedia data, both synchronously in the form of video conferencing and shared applications, and asynchronously in the form of streaming.
