CESNET to Contribute to Safer Internet Day with Workshop

Prague, 4 Feb 2016. Tuesday 9 February is this year’s international Safer Internet Day. A day-long workshop on network and service security, organised by CESNET, is taking place at the National Technical Library on this occasion. It is intended for all those who are in charge of computer network or service operation and security, that is, primarily administrators and members of security teams such as the CERT and CSIRT, and generally everyone interested in Internet security.

The lecturers, all of whom are experts from CESNET, will highlight the Cyber Security Act that entered into force on 1 January last year, which imposes numerous IT security management obligations on network operators and other entities. The workshop will relate the experience of CESNET, which belongs among the entities concerned by the Act, and the tools, mechanisms and services that it employs in managing the CESNET e-infrastructure in order to meet its legal obligations.

The first part of the workshop will deal with monitoring issues of the CESNET2 network, detection of security events and incidents, working with them and utilisation of this information in providing cyber protection for backbone network infrastructures, critical services and user protection. The second part will focus on the provision of security using expert knowledge and the services of forensic specialists.

The event takes place at the Balling Hall of the National Technical Library in Prague 6 on 9 February, starting at 9:30 am; the conclusion is scheduled for 4 pm.
