We consider handling information a key component of the security area, which is why we have always paid a lot of attention to the processes related to information security. In addition to use of cutting-edge technology, we put emphasis on systematic education of employees and organizational aspects of information protection. In line with gradual extension of the CESNET e-infrastructure service we considered it appropriate to subject the processes and rules, which are tied to information security, to verification performed by a renowned independent organization,” stated Andrea Kropáčová, performing the role of cyber security manager in the CESNET association. “We believe that obtaining this certification shows our users, partners and the professional public that information and service security is a key aspect to us and that we have been doing our best in this respect.”

“Successful completion of the certification audit is a confirmation that CESNET is able to effectively protect its data as well as the data of its users, utilizing suitable tools aimed against data misuse and sensitive information loss. Obtaining the ISO/IEC 27001 certificate further strengthens our credibility in the information security sphere we ascribe utmost importance to,” says the CESNET director Jan Gruntorád.

The CESNET organisation was founded in 1996 by universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences. It builds and develops the national e-infrastructure CESNET dedicated to science, research and education, which includes a computer network, calculation grids, data storages and collaboration spaces and offers a wide variety of services to universities, scientific-research workplaces and other facilities. The organisation also engages in its own research and development of information and communication technologies, representing the Czech Republic in important international projects, especially construction of the GÉANT pan-European network. CESNET places great emphasis on the issue of security of network operation, services and user protection.
