CESNET at the Week of Science & Technology: streaming and presentation regarding forensic analysis of digital data

Prague, 30 October 2015. Like in previous years, CESNET will participate in the Week of Science and Technology, which will take place from 1 to 15 November this year. The association will arrange online streaming of selected presentations. They can be viewed on the event’s website (www.tydenvedy.cz). The same site will offer recordings of lectures made by CESNET.

The Association will also contribute to the set of lectures of the Week of Science and Technology. Association specialist Aleš Padrta will give a presentation entitled Forensic analysis of digital data, on 11 November starting at 1 p.m. in the Small Auditorium at the Czech Academy of Sciences (Národní 3, Prague 1). The first part of the presentation will be focused on digital data, particularly their creation in computer systems, their possible contents and their lifespan. The second part will focus on forensic analyses – from securing digital data to their processing and interpretation of data results. The presentation will also include practical demonstrations.

The Week of Science and Technology is the biggest science “festival” in the Czech Republic. This year’s event, the fifteenth so far, will present science in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and many other locations. Among other things, the programme will offer more than 250 lectures, 60 exhibits, scientific café meetings, workshops, seminars and screening of documentary films.

The CESNET Association was founded by Czech universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 1996. It is engaged in research and development in information and communication technologies and builds and develops the CESNET national e-infrastructure for research and education. With its research activities and accomplishments, CESNET represents the Czech Republic in international projects, most notably the pan-European GÉANT network building project and grid projects (EGI.eu), and participates actively in their implementation. The association also works on the use of high-speed networks for sharing multimedia data both through synchronous video conferencing and shared applications, and asynchronous streaming.
