CESNET at the Internet and Technology 14.2 Conference

Registration under way now

Prague, 13 November 2014. The CESNET Association became a partner of the Internet and Technology 14.2 conference, which loosely follows the spring meeting called Internet and Technology 14. The main topics of the event that will take place on 29 November 2014, from 9.30 am at the Faculty of Information Technology of the Czech Technical University in Prague-Dejvice  (Thákurova 9), will be: current projects of the CZ.NIC laboratories, activities executed by the CESNET Association and related topics of organizations from the business sphere.

CESNET Association experts, Michal Strnad and Petr Benedikt, will give a lecture called Flyby over Data Storages. The first part of the lecture will focus on CESNET data storage configuration and available services; the second part will be devoted to one of the services provided, ownCloud. Aleš Padrta and Michal Kostěnec of the University of West Bohemia will then introduce the IPv6 Support for Sauron project which is used to manage DNS and DHCP registrations. They will also provide information about system changes within a project of the CESNET Development Fund which helped to add a full IPv6 support. Lukáš Kekely of the CESNET Association will demonstrate results of a research project focused on 100G Ethernet networks monitoring. A live demo called A FPGA Accelerator for 100Gb Network Monitoring will introduce the function and unique features of an acceleration card with the CFP2 LR4 interface.

The CZ.NIC interest association of legal entities was founded by leading providers of Internet services in 1998, and has 113 members today. The association’s key activity lies in the operation of the .CZ domain name register and 0.2.4.e164.arpa (ENUM), provision for the operation of the CZ highest level domain and public education in the area of domain names. The association is currently focusing on the expansion of the DNSSEC technology and the myID service, development of the domain administration system and support for new technologies and projects benefiting the Czech Republic’s Internet infrastructure. The CESNET Association was founded by Czech universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 1996. It is engaged in research and development in information and communication technologies and builds and develops the CESNET national e-infrastructure for research and education. With its research activities and accomplishments, CESNET represents the Czech Republic in international projects, most notably the pan-European GÉANT network building project and grid projects (EGI.eu), and participates actively in their implementation.
