Workshop on Next Generation Internet to take place in Prague

Prague, 9 October 2017 In cooperation with the European Commission, the CESNET association is organising the workshop Next Generation Internet (NGI) at its headquarters on Zikova street in Prague this Wednesday, 11 October. Under this name, the European Commission launched its key priority in the autumn of 2015, which is part of its working programme ICT 2018–2020 of the Horizon 2020 framework programme for research and innovation.

Next Generation Internet focuses on the human being. It is a long-term initiative focused primarily on the area of new technologies, specifically on better protection of private data, new Internet architecture, decentralised data systems and new research and identification tools.

Participants of the workshop, which will host a representative of the European Commission and leading experts, will search for answers to the following questions in particular:

  1. What are the three main topics that the NGI initiative has to deal with?
  2. What expectations do we have in connection with the NGI initiative as individuals as well as representatives of a specific sector?
  3. Which of the solutions or trends examined have the greatest visionary potential at the technology and policy levels?
  4. What type of actors will play a key role in developing this vision?
  5. What should the role of the European Union be?
