Prague workshop recommends CEF Networks services as instrument supporting research and innovation

Prague, 22 September 2014. On the 15 th and 16 th of September, 2014, 45 representatives from networking research institutions in Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe met to discuss their experiences designing and operating Customer Empowered Fibre (CEF) Networks and to formulate major guidelines for further research and experimental development in networking. The host of the meeting was the CESNET association. Presentations selected by Stanislav Sima covered many interesting new developments in research networks worldwide.

Workshop participants recommended R&E Networks and experimental facilities to provide CEF Networks services as worldwide instrument supporting research in various fields of science and enlarge user group providing services not available on the market, for example hard – real time sensing and control for additional reliability and security of industry equipment.

The CESNET Association was founded by Czech universities and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 1996. It is engaged in research and development in information and communication technologies and builds and develops the CESNET national e-infrastructure for research and education. With its research activities and accomplishments, CESNET represents the Czech Republic in international projects and participates actively in their implementation.
