Large Research Infrastructures Have Their Own Website

Prague, 30 November 2017. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the CESNET Association has launched a new website for Large Research Infrastructures in the Czech Republic. The website was ceremonially inaugurated at the National Research Infrastructure Day in Brno on 2 November.

The new www.vyzkumne-infrastruktury.cz website contains information on all the infrastructures registered on the Large Research Infrastructure Road Map of the Czech Republic.

Large research infrastructures are unique facilities characterised by high knowledge and technology requirements that operate on the principle of open access to their capacities. They thus enable their users to achieve breakthrough findings in the area of both primary and applied research, as well as develop advanced technologies with a potential for application in modern innovative products and services with high added value.

Each infrastructure is categorised on the website according to the disciplines in which it is active. The disciplines include physical sciences, energy sciences, environmental sciences, biomedicine and social sciences, and humanities. A separate link deals with e-infrastructures, which also include the national e-infrastructure for science, research and education, CESNET. Its operator, the CESNET Association, administers the new website.

The website aims to bring information about events in large infrastructures together. Each infrastructure can submit information in two ways: news from their RSS feeds is adopted automatically, or information can be sent directly to the website administrators. The site also displays an offer of current job vacancies, which is organised in cooperation with the server Researchjobs.cz.

The CESNET Association was founded by Czech universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences in 1996. It is engaged in research and development in the field of information and communication technologies and builds and develops the CESNET national e-infrastructure for research and education. Thanks to its research activities and accomplishments, it represents the Czech Republic in important international projects, particularly in building the pan-European GÉANT data network or grid projects (EGI.eu), and actively participates in their implementation. CESNET places great emphasis on the security of network operations, services and user protection.
