CESNET preparing own booth and lectures for weekend Linux Days

Prague, 3 October 2017 The CESNET Association is a traditional partner to the biggest Linux event in this country – the open conference LinuxDays. The sixth year will take place on the premises of the Czech Technical University Faculty of Information Technology in Prague-Dejvice on Saturday 7 October and Sunday 8 October.

The Association will have its own booth at the conference, featuring two demos for watching: L0 SDN and railway transport and Flexible processing of packets at a rate of 100 Gbps using the P4 language. As every year, CESNET will contribute to the lecture session of the conference. Four of the Association’s experts have prepared presentations: Martin Černáč and Pavel Kácha will speak on Saturday, with Ondřej Caletka and Tomáš Čejka following on Sunday.

In his lecture Difficult path of the Cryptolocker, Martin Černáč will offer a presentation of a case study of hosts at the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň being attacked by the Cryptolocker ransomware. The presentation will introduce the method of communication between the university CSIRT team and a forensic laboratory.

Pavel Kácha has named his speech Searching for uninvited guests. His objective is to outline possible procedures for searching for uninvited worms in the system that are available to any ordinary Linux administrator using common tools.

Ondřej Caletka will present his speech IPv6 tunnels using OpenVPN. He will introduce the tunnelling service operated by CESNET using OpenVPN. His lecture will also analyse general procedures for obtaining IPv6 addresses, their registration and implementation.

Tomáš Čejka has prepared a speech named Network monitoring using flow – case studies. He will present opportunities for using existing tools for monitoring computer networks and analysing network traffic. He will also deal with flow monitoring that is commonly used in practice.

The conference LinuxDays 2017 will offer dozens of lectures and workshops in the course of the two days. Numerous interesting projects are preparing their own booths, such as Fedora, Gentoo, openSUSE, vpsFree.cz, Python, Mozilla, brmlab, OpenAlt and more. Admission to the event is free.
