CESNET at InstallFest at Strahov over the weekend

Prague, 26 February, 2014. During the upcoming weekend (March 1st and 2nd) the traditional conference InstallFest will be organized by students from Silicon Hill club at Strahov, Prague. This year the event will focus on computer networks, their operation and security. CESNET Association as one of the event partners will actively contribute with a presentation block: Ondřej Caletka will first introduce the OpenWRT project and its possibilities, and next will concentrate on DNS operation; Lukáš Macura will discuss the IP telephony within OpenWRT and Michal Strnad will explore the issue of backup.

The sixth release of the renewed InstallFest conference will as previously deal with topics related to Linux, programming, server administration, and newly this year also more with computer networks. Several presentations on this topic will be offered to participants, in addition to a separate OpenWRT track where speakers will concentrate on Linux implementation on network elements.

Petr Hodač , the main organizer of the event, explains: “Today almost everyone has at home a small Wi-Fi router which offers many more capabilities than the users are aware of. Default software in these black-boxes, however, often limits the users and does not allow them have a full control. The installation of OpenWRT facilitates the transformation of a cheap box into a fully capable server.”

The two days of the event will offer altogether 31 presentations and 6 workshops aimed not only at the advanced users but newly also at beginners. Among the conference partners, alongside CESNET, there are CZ.NIC, Active24, HWkitchen and FIT ČVUT in Prague
