Access to e-infrastructure services

Services for Organisations

CESNET members automatically have the right to access the CESNET e-infrastructure.

Another organization may join if it fulfills the conditions for access to the CESNET e-Infrastructure. The organization gains access to the CESNET e-infrastructure and a unique set of ICT services as part of the monthly fee.

Standard services are provided as part of the monthly membership fee.

Extra services cover the individual needs of specific user groups and are provided based on a separate agreement for a fee.

Services for individuals

Even as an individual researcher, you can use the CESNET e-infrastructure services.

You can use computing centers, data repositories, and remote collaboration tools for your research.

We provide these services to our partners CERIT-SC and IT4I as part of the e-INFRA CZ consortium.

For individuals engaged in studies or scientific projects, we provide computing infrastructure for demanding calculations, data storage, and other services.

Network

IP connectivity (IP)

This service ensures the basic connectivity to the CESNET e-infrastructure at speed of n x 10 Gbps with a transmission speed of 100 Gb/s. The fully-optical backbone network allows for data transmission with a minimum delay and low jitter. Its high reliability is ensured by the combination of backbone infrastructure redundancy and continuous network monitoring. The e-infrastructure provides access to the pan-European network GÉANT and other partner networks (Internet2, ESnet, APAn) which enable the users to operate sophisticated and unique application in the supra-national environment.

Lambda service

CESNET Lambda service represents a set of services based on optical signal transport over fully transparent channels of wavelength multiplex between end nodes (E2E).

Photonic services (Photonic)

CESNET Photonic represents a collection of special advanced services of optical networks which, by their uniqueness and science and research support, significantly differentiate CESNET from commercial providers.

CESNET NIC

The CESNET NIC authority allocates address resources (IP addresses) to entities connected to the CESNET2 network, ensures communication with Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) and maintains contact information on allocated networks in the RIPE database up to data.

DNS services

In the field of DNS, we offer two variants of services: DNS resolving and DNS delegation.

Dedicated circuits and networks (Circuit)

Dedicated end-to-end (E2E) links at link layer (L2) for special applications requiring high throughput and low latency.

Time services

The service provides accurate time (in UTC scale) and serves for the synchronization of computer clock. CESNET runs several primary NTP servers (Stratum-1) whose time is synchronized with rubidium clock.

Backup mail server

The service ensures the reception of electronic mail messages where the primary server has failed. In case of a short outage of the primary server (up to five days), the backup mail server saves the mail and delivers the messages once the primary server is re-launched.

Network traffic monitoring (FTAS)

The service consists in the provision of information about the transmitted IP traffic (IPv4, IPv6). The primary source of such information is the so called NetFlow exported by means of routers or special probes. Traffic data comprise data extracted from TCP/IP protocol headers and additional data created by the in-house developed FTAS system.

Monitoring of network quality (G3)

The service provides information about the utilisation and state of the network (or other type of) infrastructure or its part in a short-term (hours, days), mid-term and long-term (years) perspective. To enable the users to monitor the level of resource utilisation, the availability of unused capacity, the development of fault or other characteristics and strategically plan further development. The outputs can be adjusted for the purpose of technical or managerial analysis.

OCRE – Open Clouds for Research

GÉANT as central contracting authority, of which CESNET is a member, realized pan-European public contract OCRE – Open Clouds for Research Environments, the subject was the conclusion of framework agreements with the world’s leading providers of cloud IaaS / SaaS services (Infrastructure as and Service / Software as and Service).

Virtual servers (Virtual)

CESNET’s Virtual ensures the operation of the virtual services on a reliable virtualisation infrastructure VMware operated in two data centres (Prague and Brno).

Data storage

The storage service can be used for research purposes, mainly by academic staff and students of research institutions in the Czech Republic.

FileSender

FileSender is a web service for the exchange (temporary storage) of files.

ownCloud

OwnCloud has been designed for individual users. It enables automatic data synchronisation between various computers and mobile devices of the user. Data are also available through the web interface. Data can be easily shared with colleagues.

Security

Phishingator

The Phishingator service enables comfortable preparation of phishing e-mails, their sending and also evaluation of recipients' reactions via a web application without the need to deal with technical background. The service is intended for all organisations that meet the conditions for access to the CESNET e-infrastructure and wish to educate their users about phishing.

Analýza událostí je reakcí na již probíhající nebo proběhlý bezpečnostní incident.

Warden

Warden is a system for efficient sharing of information about security events and security incidents.

Mentat

The Mentat system is a tool for unified processing of security information obtained from security tools within the CESNET e-infrastructure.

Antispam Gateway

The service ensures antispam and antivirus protection of end mail servers (domains).

RTBH filter

The Remotely Triggered Black Hole (RTBH) filter enables the connected entities to administrate the operation of their end network in case an abnormal traffic occurs, for instance when (D)DoS flood attacks occur.

Multimedia

Videoconference

Webconferencing enables holding meetings (appointments, consultations, workshops) in the web browser. The service is provided using Zoom and Pexip.

IP telephony

The service supports interconnections of IP telephony networks of institutions within the CESNET e-infrastructure in the Czech Republic and abroad and enables calls between exchanges and IP telephony networks (including audio and video conference service) free of charge.

Streaming – public event broadcast

The service consists in the provision of the distribution platform for conference broadcast over the Internet.

Special video transmissions

The service enables transmission of one or more HD video signals between two or more end points with high quality and low latency.

Videoarchive

Audio or video archive saved in the CESNET storage.

Identity

Identity federation eduID.cz

Easy authentication and access to identity federation member services.

eIDAS

CESNET eIDAS is set of tools for managing personal qualified certificates and qualified certificates for electronic seals in central repository, remote electronic signing of documents and data, verification of the validity of signatures in electronically signed documents.

Certificates for users and servers (PKI)

The service provides the basis for trustworthy distribution of keys necessary for secured communication between servers and individuals.

Time-Stamp Authority (TSA)

The purpose of the service is to assign unambiguous time identification to a certain object. The time stamps usually serve as evidence that at a given moment in the past a certain document existed.
