The basic features

The Mentat system complements the Warden system. Both systems have been developed, tested and operated in particular for the application within the CESNET association, for its members and participants.

Mentat is a modular Security Information Management System (SIEM) designed to administer and process information from security tools (IDS, IPS, probes, honeypots, logs, etc).
The modules deploy a unified framework, the system functions can be easily enhanced;
Unified processing, assessment and distribution to responsible staff.

The Mentat system processes a number of security events coming from many different sources, mostly security tools which monitor the CESNET e-infrastructure.

The service is available to all participants or parts thereof. The web interface ensures a unified approach to security events and incidents relating to a particular network; enables to define the security incident reporting (by means of e-mail notifications) and provides access to global statistics of stored data.

The service is available free of any additional charge to the entities connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure.
